MTC Morning
Aug. 19, 2009
The morning Kyle was to go to the MTC, we had a family breakfast. Corey and Cameron were able to take time before work to join us. Thanks to the help of the girls we had french toast with berries, orange julius, and eggs. The table was set in honor of the missionary. It was nice to take some final family pictures before heading to Provo. What a beautiful morning! It turned out to be a peaceful time.

The Setting Apart
Aug. 18, 2009
The Stake Presidency and the Bishopric all came to our home to set Kyle apart as a missionary. It ended up being close to 9:30 pm, as they had another missionary to set apart before Kyle. It was so nice having Corey and Alisa, Cameron and Sarah, Lori, Ray, and the grandparents, Carl DeYoung and Arlington and Dorothy Wood.
Kyle received a beautiful blessing and was told his first companions assigned to him were his parents. It was a great evening.

Kyle's Mission Celebration Day

Kyle spoke in Sacrament Meeting along with Sterling who is also leaving for his mission the same day as Kyle. They even received their calls the same day!
Afterwards, we had a dinner at our home in the backyard. The weather was beautiful! It was a perfect day. So many friends and family were able to be with us. The food was great, too, thanks to all who brought some to share. Thanks, also, to Mike and Susan for the large tent arrangements and for helping us set it up and take it down. It was a big event for us and a very special day.

It actually turned out great.

A collections of Family Valentine's
Bonneville Boy!
Ray decided to make another duct tape suit. He wore it to Bonneville's final basketball game of the season. He is definitely his own man!

Draper Temple Open House

We were able to get tickets for the Draper Temple Open House for February 2. It was during the day so Ray got out of school a little early, Lori got off of work, and Dave was already off that day. We missed Cameron, who was still at work, though.

The Surprise Room Makeover!

So Dave left to go to Honduras for work January 25. On Monday the 26th Jana had her sister Tammy help choose paint colors for the master bedroom that would match the new bedspread the kids gave Dave and Jana for Christmas. That night Lori, Kyle, and Ray helped Jana move furniture and wash walls and begin taping the trim for painting.

Tuesday 27th: Tammy helps Jana buy the right paint and supplies, then helps do more taping. That afternoon Kyle helps Jana paint two coats of base color.

Wednesday 28th: Tammy helps Jana do the faux painting. She is amazing! It turned out so great! Thanks, Tammy!

Thursday, 29th: Sarah helps Jana shop for a few decorative items for the room. All the kids help put the room back together. Dave arrives home at 9:30pm and is so surprised at the makeover when he walks in to get his slippers!

It was so great to have all the extra help. The room feels wonderful. It makes us feel extra special, too!
